Get to Know Kathy

“If you do not do your best, you are only cheating yourself”. These are words spoken to me throughout my childhood by parents who urged me to be the best at whatever task I set out to accomplish. I repeat this phrase to myself daily to guide me in the way our firm strives to give the best representation to those who we have the privilege to represent. Having this phrase echo in the back of my mind serves as a constant reminder to push myself to do the best job I can for our clients, our firm, and myself.

I grew up in the heartland and was instilled at a young age with a strong work ethic, a sense of loyalty, devotion, and undying commitment to the compelling causes I undertake. I am driven to make a difference in the lives of those who have been injured or victimized. I strive to be a good advocate for our clients, for social change, equality, and justice. I can only hope that the goals I set for myself positively impact those around me and who we represent.

At George & Farinas, I am involved in all phases of personal injury and mass tort litigation including, client outreach, liability discovery, mediation, trial preparation, and trial. I lead our trial teams and staff from the intake of a case to the final resolution for the injured family. I chose a career in the legal arena over pursuing a medical career, which helps be work closely with medical experts involved in the field of asbestos disease and other injuries to assure the highest quality treatment opportunities for the firm’s clients.

I have been privileged to participate in numerous mesothelioma and asbestos-related injury cases which resulted in multi-million dollar recoveries for the injured and their families. In addition to litigating asbestos personal injury actions, I serve as counsel in numerous catastrophic injury, medical device, and pharmaceutical and toxic tort cases. My attention to detail and ability to gather and prepare evidence for the trial have served our clients and colleagues well no matter the legal issue involved.

Over the past decade, I have worked closely with the Indiana trial Lawyers Association to maintain and preserve the right to trial by jury through legislative efforts on both state and federal issues. I was honored to be elected to the Executive Board of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, to serve as the Chair of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Women’s Caucus for three years, and to serve as a Co-Chair of the AAJ Hernia Mesh Litigation Group for the last four years. I am an active member of the American Association for Justice’s Asbestos Litigation, Product Liability, Zofran, and Personal Jurisdiction Litigation Groups.

By being active in these organizations, I obtain trial skills and build relationships with other trial lawyers across the country, which in turn, benefits our clients. By working together and sharing information with others helping similar clients, we bring justice to those in need. Likewise, by working together in our communities we are fighting for change, safe neighborhoods, safe workplaces, safe products, and safe medical care.

It is my sincere hope all of us at George & Farinas strive to do the best for all of our clients and those needing the compassionate service and justice our firm is known to provide.
